Position Summary/Objective
The SSVF Administrative Assistant promotes a culture of safety, hospitality, service, honor, and respect among our homeless guests, our staff, and volunteers, for the purpose of furthering the vision and mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Working with St. Vincent de Paul's Supportive Services for Veteran Families program (SSVF) is a meaningful opportunity to support individuals who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom.
The Admin Assistant/Eligibility Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for Veteran households entering the SSVF Program. They conduct initial eligibility screenings, coordinate release of information and collect necessary documents from Veterans, following the guidelines outlined in the SSVF Policies and Procedures and Program Guides. The Admin Assistant also ensures immediate access to essential resources such as food, shelter, transportation, etc. while addressing any urgent crisis situations. They collaborate closely with the SSVF Program Manager to assign new clients to case managers who will efficiently re-house homeless Veteran families and prevent homelessness for those facing imminent risk due to a housing crisis.
Hours: Wednesday- Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

Travel
- Travel on company and/or personal time as required
Required education and experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with Veterans, people in recovery, and/or homeless individuals: 1-3 years
- Experience with databases and computerized documentation: 1-3 years
- Experience working in an office environment: 5 years
Preferred education and experience
- Associate degree in human services, MHT, or related field
- Experience working with and working knowledge of nonprofit agencies
- Demonstrated, successful experience working with diverse populations
Additional eligibility requirements
- Computer/Microsoft Office Software
- Oral/Written communication skills
- Act as an On-Call contact outside Regular Working Hours
- Accessibility via Cell Phone
- Maintain a driver's license with good driving record
