It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Regional Laboratory Manager, the ideal candidate should demonstrate flexibility, objectivity, adaptability, initiative and strong organizational skills. Develops policies and procedures related to Point of Care Testing. Investigates, procures and disseminates information regarding manufacturer guidelines and CMS and Joint Commission regulations. Evaluate requests for new Point of Care testing including feasibility study of clinical necessity and cost impact. Provides technical support to the patient care areas. Establish and implement program guidelines for new equipment/test kits. Monitor all regulatory compliance and troubleshoot problem equipment and interfaces.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Medical Technologist (MT), or in Biology or Chemistry other life sciences.
- ASCP or equivalent certification/eligible obtained within 12 months of hire
- 3 years of clinical laboratory experience
- Prior experience with POCT is highly preferred.
