NOTE: This Position Is Temporary With The Possibility Of Transition To Permanent.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Worker will work directly for the schools Facilities Manager, with direct responsibility for performing systems inspections, minor repairs, equipment installation, cleaning, and upkeep of school grounds and facilities. The position requires a strong work ethic, and a team oriented approach to facilities planning and maintenance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Create and maintain effective liaison with the Facilities Manager.
- Communicate and resolve issues, and identifying those needing attention.
- Check the functionality of safety systems, including alarms, and ensure that they are properly set and reset as required.
- Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies for each student’s academic growth.
- Install necessary appliances and equipment, specifically in kitchens and cafeterias.
- Perform minor repairs, including broken locks, and damages to walls or windows.
- Check school building control panel, and electric wiring to identify issues, and ensure that any obvious ones are addressed immediately.
- Perform typical core cleaning activities, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
- Erect warning signs for wet or polished floors, to protect others from the danger of slipping.
- Conduct a wide variety of routine maintenance tasks, including changing bulbs and replacing light fixtures, ceiling tiles, etc.
- Inspect and troubleshoot HVAC systems for problems or errors.
- Ensure that all surfaces are properly sanitized according to the policies of the school.
- Assure that any need for building repairs is reported to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist in the upkeep of school grounds, ensuring that they are clean and safe for students’ and guests’ activities.
- Any other assignment deemed appropriate by the Facilities Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Driver License.
- Able to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Mechanical skill.
- General knowledge of routine building maintenance activities.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- The position requires VIRTUS certification and FBI/BCI background check.
- This position will require prolonged times of standing and walking.
