Stabbert is currently looking for a Senior Engineering Coordinator (SEC).


POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr Engineering Coordinator (SEC) is responsible for providing administrative management of the technical services department of our organization, which supports vessel operations including engineering, conversion, refit, new construction, and new technology integration in the company. The SEC will be responsible for managing the administrative duties of this department and supporting executive-level leadership on budgets, schedules, and risks associated with the operational fleet, new vessel acquisition, and new technology application within the organization. This role will also assist the organization by identifying areas of opportunity for expanding and developing management technologies and integrating these technologies for vessel optimization. This position will support leadership in the strategic development, planning, and management of technical projects and related support staff. The SEC will support the Director of Technical Services, leading a department of 12 individuals comprised of Port Engineers, Project Managers, ETOs, and project support team members.  It is the responsibility of the SEC to assist in building integrated and streamlined processes and procedures that create scalability within the organization for continued company growth. A high degree of leadership with a passion for the maritime industry is critical. Executive-level leadership, contractual, risk assessment and team management skills are crucial. The position will report directly to the VP of Technical Services as the division's leader. Holistic leadership and management of the team with constant communication is expected.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilize functional expertise gained through direct industry experience to assess the department's operational and functional baseline and critical components to identify areas of opportunity in present operations and evolving technologies. 
  • Working with senior managers and executives to determine administrative inadequacies and/or deficiencies within the fleet that affect the technical effectiveness of the operation. 
  • Continuously review, update, and create administrative best practices for the Tech Services Team.  
  • Drive the execution of strategic initiatives.  
  • Work with senior management and ownership to provide the most favorable solutions to facilitate corporate relational growth with cross-functional teams. 
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate project development and address concerns. 
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and manage the implementation of the administrative risk strategies. 
  • Assist in financial modeling, cost estimation, and analysis of project economics to assess profitability and support ownership with investment decisions. 
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement within the Technical Services Team, promoting inclusivity, efficiency, and effectiveness by participating in the management of project schedules and allocating team resources.  
  • Act as a communication hub for the Tech Services Team to build comradery and strengthen relationships.  
  • Collaborate with internal departments to define project scopes, objectives, and success criteria and develop methodologies to help each department reach their goals.  
  • Receive and maintain project documentation, including contracts, agreements, and technical reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness. 
  • Provide management support to the project team and technical services group to ensure smooth project execution by coordinating tasks, monitoring progress, and resolving issues.  
  • Market Research: Assist the engineering department in their attempt to stay informed about industry trends, policies, and incentives related to emerging technologies to identify opportunities and assess market dynamics. 
  • Assist in developing company standards, best practices, and adherence to industry regulations throughout the project development lifecycle. 


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Having a basic knowledge of maritime engineering, electrical, and mechanical systems is a plus.  
  • Familiarity with maritime technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, ownership, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to support the management of multiple tasks and teams simultaneously to meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial modeling tools. 
  • A proactive mindset and passion for the advancement of the maritime industry. 
  • An effective coach and mentor to lead diverse teams across the organization. 
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a dynamic leader able to find creative solutions to challenges. 
  • Ability to work with, encourage, and lead individualistic technical staff as a collective group in support of the greater corporate objectives.  

 

EDUCATION AND/OR REQUIREMENTS:

·       Bachelor’s/Master's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business administration, or a related discipline. 

·       10 years' experience in the maritime industry. Experience as an engineering administrative officer, maritime engineer, project manager, or technical team leader is highly desirable. 

  • Flexibility to travel as required for project site visits and meetings. 
  • Should be able to lift to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds.
  • There will be local and international travel (including air travel) up to 50% of the time with and without notice. 
  • The individual will occasionally be required to be in production areas in Shipyards and onboard ships. 
  • Must be able to walk to and from job sites. 
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, Passport and be able to receive a TWIC.

Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
