Summary
We are actively seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of IT, Infrastructure, and Operations (I&O) for a full-time role within our healthcare organization. In this leadership position, you will leverage your technical expertise, compliance knowledge (including HIPAA and healthcare-specific regulations), and leadership abilities to transform our IT department. You will also guide and motivate the I&O team to enhance IT services critical to patient care and operational efficiency. With a requirement for direct involvement in technical tasks about 50% of the time, recent hands-on experience in IT infrastructure is crucial. Your role will be pivotal in advancing our IT services and operations across our healthcare network.
Responsibilities
- Lead the IT team to develop and execute the organization’s IT Infrastructure and Operations strategy, ensuring alignment with healthcare objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Develop a multi-year actionable roadmap for IT I&O transformation, focusing on enhancing patient data security, compliance (HIPAA, HITECH), and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the efficient and secure deployment and management of end-user devices such as laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and medical devices integrated with IT systems.
- Implement and manage compliance with standards such as HIPAA, NIST/CMMC, ISO270001, PCI, GDPR/CCPA, focusing on healthcare data protection and privacy.
- Oversee ITIL best practices in areas such as change management, patch management, and incident management, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations.
- Manage vendors for purchasing and managed services for network, cloud infrastructure, on-premise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and database management, with a focus on healthcare-specific solutions.
- Oversee the help desk to support clinical and administrative end users, utilizing metrics and KPIs to ensure service effectiveness and rapid response to critical healthcare incidents.
- Lead the consolidation of multiple Windows domains and conduct a physical inventory of IT and medical IT assets.
- Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery strategies are in place and tested regularly, with a focus on healthcare compliance and data recovery.
- Promote and oversee the application of emerging IT trends that can drive healthcare business value, such as telehealth capabilities and secure patient portals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and accountability in IT, ensuring alignment with healthcare mission and values.
- Apply project management skills to manage IT projects, maintain timelines, and support clinical systems implementations and upgrades.
Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with the Microsoft Stack, Linux, Cloud (Azure preferred, AWS a plus), and SQL Server, particularly in healthcare settings.
- Practical experience with traditional Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) within a healthcare compliance framework.
- Working knowledge of MFA, SD-WAN (CATO), Cisco Meraki (LAN and WLAN), Microsoft/Office 365, Freshservice/ServiceNow, ManagedEngine or other UEM tools, and MDM, with a focus on secure healthcare data transmission.
- Experience with leveraging Infrastructure as Code to streamline and secure healthcare IT operations.
- Understanding of and experience with DevOps best practices and collaboration with healthcare application teams.
- Demonstrable experience in a leadership role within IT infrastructure and operations, ideally within a healthcare organization or a highly regulated environment.
- Proven vendor management skills, including purchasing and managing services in areas of network, security, and database management, with a focus on healthcare compliance.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, NIST/CMMC, ISO270001, PCI, GDPR/CCPA compliance standards, with a strong focus on protecting patient data.
- Good understanding of ITIL best practices (Change Management, Patch management) in a healthcare context.
- Excellent time management and basic project management skills with a focus on healthcare IT projects.
- Ability to build a roadmap to continuously improve infrastructure and operations with a focus on healthcare security and compliance.
