Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards; the Student Conduct Specialist assists in administering the student conduct process by holding educational meetings with students alleged to have violated university policy. The specialist will create cases, review incident reports, and serve as a hearing officer for assigned conduct cases including cases that could result in suspension or expulsion. The specialist will facilitate recruitment and training for Conduct Board members and Office Assistants. 

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards with the administration of the Student Conduct Process. 
  2. Serve as a resource for students, parents, and advisors navigating the conduct process. Refers students to other campus support resources when indicated.
  3.  Responsible for the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of (6) six or (7) seven student workers during the academic year. Process time report forms and on-line student employment authorization forms. 
  4. Responsible for the creation, coordination, and review of conduct cases and conduct correspondence to include details of charges and sanction, and direct computer entry of Public Safety and other miscellaneous cases. 
  5.  Oversee the recruitment and training of Conduct Board Members. 
  6. Serve as a campus contact for Maxient concerns/user management when the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards is unavailable. 
  7. Serve as a content administrator for the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards website, providing regular updates around information, policies, and procedures.
  8.  Review, schedule, and adjudicate student conduct cases in accordance with the procedures outline in the Student Code of Conduct.
  9. Create and assign conduct cases to other hearing officers in consultation with the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards 
  10. Serve as a hearing officer for conduct meetings and hearings as assigned. 
  11. Serve as a Chair for Title IX cases when the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards is unavailable. 
  12. Coordinate all administrative aspects of the Alcohol Education and Marijuana Education programs. Work with the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards and the Office of Health Promotion to coordinate the BASICS program. Complete billing for any associated fees related to alcohol or other drug programs. 
  13. Maintain student records and prepare conduct record checks for several campus offices for students applying for various College sponsored programs and activities, outside employment, study abroad applications, as well as for external sources such as graduate schools, Federal Bureau of Investigation and other government and community agencies. 
  14. Maintain files for all conduct incidents for the previous seven years in compliance with Cleary requirements as well as permanent records for students who have been suspended or expelled. 
  15. Coordinate and maintain the tracking of sanction completion, including communication with students, assigning holds, and overseeing student withdrawals as it pertains to overdue sanctions and cases. Communicate with the conduct hearing officers to verify status of projects and sanctions. 
  16. Develop and deliver prevention-based programing in the residence halls and around campus. 
  17. Assist the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards with creating and presenting Student Conduct trainings to members of the campus community. 
  18. Assist the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards with conduct case oversight and system management. 
  19. Develop, promote, and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to department and college values and communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that promotes belonging when interacting with all staff, faculty, students, and visitors. Foster a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive working and living environment. 
  20. Serve on a departmental committee within the Office of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards. 
  21. Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years previous student affairs experience. Knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, the Clery Act, and other relevant federal/state regulations. 

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Student Conduct case management and adjudication. Masters degree     Experience with case management software such as Maxient.

This position is 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Hiring Range:

$23 to $25 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
