What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Estimator position at Staff Electric Company Inc.?
Under the direction of the Estimating Manager, the Estimator is responsible for the work needed to prepare cost estimates, communicate with external/internal clients including but not limited to: Project Managers, engineers, vendors, architects, owners, contractors for scope review, design options, and pricing of change orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Review the requirements of the bid package, analyze the drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Coordinate with project manager and project coordinator any documentation that needs to be submitted with the bid.
- Able to work with vendors to identify specific items for the project. Prepare and send out quote requests, vets quotes for accuracy when received, enter pricing information into appropriate tracking documents and estimating software program.
- Calculate cost by analyzing labor, material, equipment, Subcontractor bids and time requirements.
- Organize estimates from beginning to end, ensuring all aspects of the bid are accounted for.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Electrical field experience (desired)
- Estimating experience in the field (desired)
- Knowledge of electrical installation practices, codes, and electrical equations (desired)
- General understanding of standards: NEC, NFPA, and IBC as related to design and documentation (desired)
- Ability to read and interpret plans, schematics, layout drawings and wiring diagrams and modify them for optimization (desired)
- Detail oriented/Accurate
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Self-motivated
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Understand computer software (MS Excel, MS Word, Accubid)
