Job Summary:
A Millwright Worker is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment in an industrial setting. This role involves working with a wide range of equipment, from conveyors and pumps to large-scale manufacturing machines. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and hands-on experience with the setup and upkeep of complex machinery systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Setup: Install machinery and mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to layout plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, and reassemble faulty machinery and equipment.
- Machine Alignment: Utilize precise measurement tools to align machines, adjust components, and ensure correct assembly.
- Welding and Fabrication: Operate welding equipment to repair or fabricate machine parts as necessary. Perform cutting, grinding, and fitting tasks.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment by using appropriate PPE and ensuring that all safety guidelines are adhered to during tasks.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose mechanical problems, perform repairs on broken or malfunctioning machines, and make adjustments to optimize functionality.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance performed. Report any major issues or malfunctions that require further attention.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff and engineers to ensure that operations run smoothly and production goals are met.
- Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience as a millwright, mechanic, or in a similar industrial maintenance role (typically 3-5 years of hands-on experience).
- Skills:
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabricating metal parts.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30-hour certification (or equivalent) and any relevant trade certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights (e.g., scaffolding, ladders).
Work Environment:
- Industrial or manufacturing facility.
- Exposure to loud noises, extreme temperatures, and hazardous materials.
