Your Purpose:
As the Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) Manager, you develop, implement, and monitor company environmental health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Direct EH&S activities including planning, implementing, and managing technical performance to ensure quality and financial objectives are attained.
- Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, federal and site specific safety policies and regulations.
- Documents safety inspections and routine audits, cites dangerous areas/procedures and recommends corrective procedures to management.
- Maintains safety equipment (PPE) supply, training and insures availability.
- Independently evaluates jobs/tasks and procedures performed in the manufacturing plant and recommends appropriate task modifications, PPE or other appropriate actions.
- Ensures Safety First culture through employee engagement and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.
- Prepare periodic written reports for review. Completes all regulatory reporting requirements (Fire, OSHA, EPA).
- Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from hazardous work conditions, to include review and assessment of incoming materials (SDS) for approval.
- Oversee the development and execution of environmental projects, to include carbon reduction initiatives.
- Oversee the development and execution of sustainability/environmental projects.
- Educate employers and workers about workplace safety by preparing and providing training programs as needed and required by regulations.
- Oversee and Investigate incidents and accidents to identify what caused them and how they might be prevented.
- Collects data and reports on all safety and accident/incident events.
- All other duties as assigned by COO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in a related field with 10 years of progressively complex manufacturing environment. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Safety Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of practices and methods for developing and administering a comprehensive EH&S program, including designing employee EH&S training programs.
- Must be proficient in performing EH&S assessments to identify workplace hazards and determining appropriate control measures.
- Must have a broad knowledge of the methods and practices for conducting accident and workplace safety audits and investigations required.
- Must demonstrate an extensive technical understanding of environmental health and safety principles, concepts, theories, Revised 2014-01 regulations, and practices; and comprehensive leadership skills including organizing, planning, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadline or milestones; and the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in MS Windows/Office programs.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 in General Industry Preferred.
