The Safety and Compliance Manager at our Firm oversees DOT and Health and Safety compliance for transportation and warehousing operations. Responsibilities include maintaining safety standards, conducting risk assessments, setting safety goals, providing training, and advising on program deficits. The role also involves managing accident investigations, claims reporting, and maintaining safety systems like truck telematics and forklift safety systems.
Qualifications include 5 years in DOT regulatory compliance, a strong understanding of safety regulations, strategic thinking, and effective communication. Proficiency in MS Excel and a willingness to travel up to 50% are also required.
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
The role involves leading the development and management of the Company’s DOT Trucking Compliance Programs, including oversight of CMV files, drug / alcohol programs, vehicle inspections, and more. Key responsibilities include :
- Collaborating with Operations to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Coaching drivers on DOT adherence and documenting violations.
- Ensuring warehouse safety to minimize risks and investigating incidents.
- Coordinating accident investigations to prevent future occurrences and educate staff.
- Planning for emergency response and recovery operations.
- Reporting DOT violations and analyzing metrics for compliance.
- Standardizing processes for driver background checks and medical screenings with HR.
- Conducting new employee orientation and safety meetings.
- Performing audits and risk assessments for trucking and OSHA compliance.
- Submitting required DOT registrations and ensuring timely equipment maintenance.
- Keeping updated on regulatory changes and preparing for compliance needs.
- Leading implementation of compliance and safety systems across the fleet.
Travel requirements will vary based on the company's needs; the coverage areas include our branch locations in Braselton, GA, Dalton, GA, Sylva, NC, Morganton, NC, Raleigh, NC, Richmond, VA, Birmingham, AL, and Charleston, SC. However, the Safety Manager will primarily operate from our Braselton office and may be required to travel to Dalton, Sylva, and Morganton up to four times a year.
The work schedule for the Safety Manager is Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Please note that the Safety Manager will not be provided with a company vehicle. Instead, mileage reimbursement will be available when using their personal vehicle for work-related travel.
