Position Overview : The individual in this role will be responsible for managing cost accounting, audit functions, compliance, and conducting standard gross margin and variance analyses to ensure accurate and efficient financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities :

Apply cost accounting principles, recommend improvements, and implement approved changes to the ERP cost system.
Develop and implement cost accounting procedures and methods.
Supervise the monthly cycle count process, perform regular inventory audits, and manage inventory to reduce costs while improving product availability.
Gather and analyze data related to material and labor costs, including variances, to assess efficiency and effectiveness across business operations.
Expertise in government contract cost accounting principles, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and related regulations (FAR, DFARS). This includes calculating and analyzing government rates and factors and preparing cost proposals compliant with government regulations.
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing processes, or services to determine their impact on costs.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive cost procedure manual.
Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Prepare audit reports for current and forecasted cost environments.
Lead month-end closing processes, prepare necessary journal entries, and analyze inventory evaluations and roll forwards.
Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research, and perform detailed cost analyses to assess profitability.
Calculate burden rates and set up expense budgets for manufacturing and service departments.
Understand and reconcile Conversion Costs and Cost Per Earned Standard Hour to the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

7-10 years of experience in aerospace cost accounting or high-volume manufacturing cost accounting.

Experience with both standard and actual costing methodologies is required, along with maintaining a fully compliant CAS costing system.

Extensive experience with various contract types, including Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and Cost-Plus contracts.

Experience handling government audits is preferred.

Ability to present and interpret data, whether numerically or graphically.

Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to carry out written or oral instructions and solve problems that arise in daily activities.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Minimum of 1-3 years of supervisory experience.

Oversee and manage the Finance Planning & Analysis team, which currently includes 3 analysts.

Collaborate effectively with the Accounting team and other departments across the organization.
