We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accounting Supervisor to manage and oversee the cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in standard costing and a solid background in manufacturing. This role will be responsible for establishing and analyzing standard costs, providing cost support across functional areas, and ensuring accurate product cost information is available for financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Standard Cost Management:
- Establish standard costs for new parts and regularly review and analyze standard costs for existing parts.
- Manage the preparation and execution of the annual standard cost roll.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates to standard costs to reflect changes in manufacturing processes or materials.
Cross-Functional Cost Support:
- Provide cost support to various departments as requested, offering detailed product cost information and analysis.
- Support month-end financial closing activities by providing accurate product cost data.
Purchase Price Variance (PPV) Analysis:
- Analyze the purchase price variance general ledger account to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Report findings and recommend corrective actions to improve cost accuracy.
Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory systems, including physical to perpetual to general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and audit explanations.
- Oversee cycle count activity, including item selection, recount decisions, discrepancy research, and root cause analysis.
- Provide daily absorption reports and compare actuals to forecasts to identify variances.
Manufacturing Systems Management:
- Ensure the accuracy and timing of standards and gross margins by managing the periodic requirements of manufacturing systems.
- Provide meaningful analysis of manufacturing results to support decision-making and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Excellent expertise in standard costing, particularly within a manufacturing environment.
- A minimum of five years of experience in cost accounting, with a focus on manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Sage software is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with various departments.
Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
