Job Description
Performs difficult skilled work overseeing and supervising the maintenance, repair or construction of water and sewer lines and appurtenances and operating construction equipment. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Field Operations Manager. Supervision is exercised over subordinate line workers.
The hiring range for this position is $29.83/hour to $41.02/hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is $29.83/hour to $52.21/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.
Examples of Duties
Overseeing, supervising and participating in the repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines and appurtenances; operates water and sewer construction, maintenance and inspection equipment.
- Supervises and participates in the work of semi-skilled and skilled workers in the installation, repair, maintenance or construction of water and sewer lines and facilities;
- Supervises and participates in the installation of water and sewer taps, large meter taps, and pits; Repairs and replaces sewer and water lines and related facilities;
- Unstops sewer lines;
- Serves as welder; fabricates and repairs equipment;
- Responds to citizens inquiries and complaints;
- Operates trucks, tractors, back hoe, trencher, jet and vac trucks, TV monitor, and other mechanical equipment in connection with the above tasks;
- Responds to emergency calls;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of repair, maintenance, and construction of water and sewer lines;
- Thorough knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in such repair work;
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work;
- Thorough knowledge of the operation of water and sewer line equipment, tools and appurtenances;
- Ability to assign and supervise the work of water and sewer maintenance workers;
- Ability to prepare simple reports.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and 5 years of experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and sewer lines including some supervisory experience.
