Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This role is essential in supporting our attorneys through effective organization, research, and communication.
Duties
- Assist attorneys in preparing for litigation by organizing case files and managing documentation.
- Conduct data entry tasks to maintain accurate records and ensure all information is up-to-date.
- Draft, write, and transcribe legal documents, including briefs, motions, and correspondence.
- Utilize Westlaw for legal research to support ongoing cases and provide relevant information to attorneys.
- Maintain an organized filing system for both physical and electronic documents.
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and other legal professionals to gather necessary information.
- Schedule appointments, manage calendars, and coordinate meetings for attorneys.
- Support the team with administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth office operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in an administrative role; previous experience as a Legal Assistant is preferred.
- Familiarity with patent law and workers' compensation law is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to transcribe legal documents efficiently.
- Knowledge of legal research tools such as Westlaw is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
