    Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.


    General Statement:
    The Coordinator of Summer School and Extended Day Programs, under the supervision of the Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, is responsible for the administration of the summer school program and oversight of the extended day programs. The Coordinator of Summer School and Extended Day Programs is responsible for planning, staffing, overseeing and assessing and reporting on summer school programs as well as overseeing, assessing and reporting on extended day programs.

    Summer School and Extended Day Programs support the district mission to provide an education that cultivates productive habits of mind, body and heart in every student. Partnerships with community agencies have resulted in services that align academic instruction with recreational activities.

    The Coordinator of Summer School and Extended Day Programs will work with the Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the Director of Innovative Programs, and other Central Office staff and building leaders as appropriate to plan the needed academic support in literacy and core academic subjects for all elementary, middle and high school students and enrichment if applicable.


    Major Responsibilities:
      Provides leadership and directs the program planning, development, implementation, professional development, and assessment of extended learning programs, including summer school, Saturday and before/after-school extended day programs for grades K-12;
      Collaborates with State and Federal Program Directors to comply with extended day grant program regulations and reporting including but not limited to Summer School, Upward Bound, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Extended School Hours grant and After School grants.
      Collaborates with Special Education and EL departments to ensure programs accommodate these students with disabilities and/or EL services
      Oversees extended day programs in the district, and plans and develops new extended learning programs, through grant applications.
      Provides direction for staff to plan the integration, coordination and alignment of extended day programs with the regular school day programs.
      Meets with staff, parent/community groups and other partners regarding extended day and summer programs.
      Recruits and hires summer school staff and assists schools in staffing extended day programs.
      Oversees the training, communication, service delivery, and data collection and reporting of extended day programs with designated program school sites, district personnel and collaborative agencies.
      Supervises summer school staff and the programs at all designated sites;
      Plans, coordinates and supervises all summer transition programs
      Evaluates programming and the preparation of reports and programmatic recommendations based on evaluative outcomes.
      Prepares the extended day programs’ budget, including revenue and expenditures, reports to funding sources and meeting district accounting and budgetary requirements.
      Maintains attendance records and financial accounts to ensure fiscal accountability.
      Tracks and analyzes Average Daily Attendance for summer school extended day programs.
      Collaborates with Human Resources and city offices in order to promote smooth implementation of Kronos payroll system;
      Coordinates among several stakeholders, including community based agency partners to schedule extended day and summer school related activities, including transportation;
      Performs related duties as assigned

    Knowledge and Skills:
      Experience with supervision of teachers and other staff in urban public schools;
      Oral and written communication skills;

      Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
      High standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
      Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, PowerSchool); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.

    Qualifications:
      CT CSDE Educator Certification.
      CT CSDE Intermediate Administration or Supervision certification (092).
      Minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory position supporting staff, preferred.
      Must be in-district before and during summer school programming
      Experience in an urban district, preferred.
      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Stamford Board of Education may find appropriate.
