Position Overview
We are seeking a Bagger Operator to join our production team in Owasso, OK. This role is responsible for operating and adjusting bagging machinery, ensuring that cooked products are properly sealed, date-stamped, and meet all quality standards before being boxed. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine operation, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced food processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently operate, calibrate, and adjust bagging machines based on product specifications.
- Set up bagging machines at the start of each shift, making necessary adjustments for different product sizes.
- Inspect unsealed bags to prevent contamination and ensure food safety compliance.
- Conduct regular seal integrity checks by firmly testing bag seals at least twice per hour.
- Verify that the correct film and materials are used according to company standards.
- Calibrate and clean scale buckets to ensure accurate weight measurements.
- Monitor and adjust bag weights using a touch screen monitor to maintain proper specifications.
- Ensure that "Best By" dates and product stamps are printed clearly and correctly.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on bagging machinery, coordinating with the maintenance team as needed.
- Notify the supervisor or maintenance personnel immediately regarding any deviations or mechanical issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to food safety and quality regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience operating bagging machinery or other industrial equipment in a food processing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety protocols, packaging quality standards, and machine operation.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure proper packaging and labeling.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment while maintaining efficiency.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50-80 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to work in warm, cold, and refrigerated environments (temperatures as low as -40°F to -45°F).
- Effective communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is helpful but not required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Must have full range of motion including bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods on potentially slippery surfaces due to production materials.
- Work in cold storage environments (-40°F to -45°F) with exposure to strong food odors (raw meat, marinades).
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hair/beard nets, smocks, rubber-soled shoes, hearing protection, and hard hats.
- Due to high noise levels, hearing protection is required in the work environment.
- Must have corrected vision to accurately inspect product packaging.
