Job Description
Standard Electric is an electrical distributor in the Boston area. We represent various manufacturers and sell products to electrical contractors, commercial accounts and National accounts. This position reports to the Region Credit Manager and is located in the Wilmington, Massachusetts corporate office.
- Work with internal and external customers
- Perform credit investigations and grant credit approval for new accounts and existing accounts
- Process job accounts and send preliminary lien notices as required by state statute
- Draft lien waivers per customer requests and payments received
- Maintains and manages a portfolio of accounts to ensure customers are adhering to USESI’s standard terms and conditions in order to reduce DSO
- Track and maintain detailed spreadsheet of disputes and status for largest credit customers
- Research and report payment deductions to the customer, Branch Manager , Project Manager and Sales to ensure the efficient and timely resolution of customer deductions
- Recommend best method of collection on delinquent accounts in collaboration with the Region Credit Manager, Branch Manager, Sales, and/or Region President and VP’s
- Placing accounts on credit hold in collaboration with the Region Credit Manager, Branch Manager and/or Region President and VP’s
- Negotiate differences with customers and make arrangements for payment and dispute resolution
- Assist the Region Credit Manager to maintain and enforce USESl’s lien and bond rights at all times
- Maintain relationships with Branch Managers, Department and Project Managers and external customers
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Two years of credit/accounting experience required
- College degree preferred will consider related experience in lieu of degree
- Experience in credit and collections
- Negotiation skills and problem solving
- Must be a self-starter who can handle a heavy volume of work and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time
- Microsoft Office Suite software (proficiency with Excel a must)
- Detail oriented
- Excellent math skills
- Maintaining a pleasant personality under stress
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
