Job Title: Parts Clerk Inventory FLSA Status: Hourly Department: Maintenance
SUMMARY:
The duties and responsibilities of a parts clerk include receiving materials and parts into the facility, maintaining inventory records, and dispensing the parts and materials to other workers in the company. A parts clerk must transact materials into the company database when receiving parts into the company. Parts clerks also record materials and parts out of the system when they are transferred to a production area.
Shifts, starting times and workdays will always be determined by production scheduling and coordinated by Maintenance supervision to provide adequate coverage of all affected areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
Routinely inspect parts and equipment for inventory levels and maintains inventory records by identifying when parts need to be ordered in accord established minimum / maximum inventory levels. Maintain adequate inventory levels of equipment parts by receiving, storing, and issuing spare and replacement parts, equipment, and expendable items used in or maintenance shop.

Until properly trained, maintenance mechanics will not work on any equipment or building systems they have not been trained on. It is the responsibility of members of the maintenance team to ask for assistance and/or training on any tasks they are not qualified to perform.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and sort parts according to established inventory system.
- Report concerns or problems to the maintenance supervisor / lead.
- Maintenance parts inventory is an “on-going” process. As parts are pulled for use, personnel determine if part reorder is necessary and notes it on a “Parts Request Form”.
- Seek saving opportunities in procurement of parts.
- Communicate all parts purchase and inventory status with Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assist in input of data into Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Keep equipment and building system manuals and documentation organized and up to date.
- Assist Maintenance Team in keeping shop clean and organized.
- Keep Maintenance parts room and mezzanine clean and organized.
- Each member of the maintenance team must be a motivated self starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision
- Good attendance is a must and must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to include backup for other clerk(s) when necessary.
- Maintenance personnel shall have a thorough understanding of G.M.P.’s and follow accordingly.
- Maintenance personnel shall have a thorough understanding of Standard Meat Company’s Maintenance Program, Safety programs and all Company policies and follow accordingly.
- Appropriate personal safety equipment must be used at all times.
- Bump caps, steel toe boots or shoes and hair nets shall be worn on plant premises.
- Clean frocks shall be worn in production and vinyl gloves as needed.
- Tools must be kept clean.
- Under no circumstances shall any equipment safety devices be bypassed at any time.
- Job assignments shall be made and coordinated by the Supervisor of Maintenance - either verbal, written memo or listed on the weekly maintenance task list.
- Good basic math, computer and skills to work in a stockroom or warehouse position.
- Basic Mechanical knowledge (Tools/Parts names and usage)
- Should have good attention to detail when working with inventory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be able to speak and comprehend English.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- High school education
- Must be familiar with word processing software, moderate experience with Excel spreadsheets
- Working knowledge of Word Processing and Spreadsheet Software
