Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety and Compliance Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate independently advises, implements, administers, interprets, plans, or coordinates safety, compliance, licensing, and permitting activities of the organization regarding policies, procedures, plans, and programs in accordance with federal, state, or local laws. Provides routine and advanced support in one or more functional areas such as recruiting and staffing, personnel records, employee or labor relations, benefits, training, and/or affirmative action. Maintain knowledge in area of expertise and monitor changes in government regulations to ensure Company compliance.
Responsibilities
· Interpret, administer, and explain the interpretation and application of established Company safety, compliance, licensing, and permitting activities to managers and employees and contractors. Respond to routine questions regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
· Evaluate policies or practices to confer and recommend changes to management. Develop, implement, update, and maintain department documents, such as company forms, policies, and company procedures.
· Analyze, modify, and administer programs in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness, compliance, equity, and legal requirements within the organization.
· Assess, develop, and implement training materials and needs to enhance personnel job skills. Schedule and conduct employee-training programs including safety, EEO, benefits, and new employee orientations. Coordinate management training in safety, and compliance.
· Establish, prepare, and maintain driver employment records and data related to events such as hiring, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, leaves, employee classifications, and absenteeism rates. Compile employee statistics for government or management reporting purposes.
· Advise and assist management in appropriate resolutions of driver relation issues. Help identify potential issues and grievances. Address driver issues such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other driver concerns. Communicate to department managers Company policy and procedures.
· Investigate, report, and coordinate the administration of employee safety, occupational health, security, and workers compensation programs. Assure compliance with insurance carriers, federal, state, and local safety regulations
· Review employment applications and select qualified applicants or refer to managers making hiring recommendations when necessary. Administer hiring activities including processing related paperwork, reference and background checks verifying application data, conducting interviews, scheduling pre-employment drug screens, and status updates to prospective applications.
· Prepare and conduct related documentation to employee separations
· Monitor and maintain HRIS systems or databases by entering driver, pay, and / or benefit related information. Provide management reports as needed.
· Process and file all transportation related IFTA and Mileage Tax Returns.
· Perform all other duties as assigned or required
Experience
Experience in Transportation and Warehousing preferred.
· This position requires experience with PC/computer, calculator, basic accounting, and data entry. Knowledge in various computer programs including Microsoft Office and HRIS Systems.
· Requires the incumbent to regularly utilize excellent communication skills to include written, verbal, active listening, presentation, speaking, and reading comprehension.
· Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, form design, and other office procedures and terminology.
