Health Record Technician

DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management

REPORTS TO: Business Office Manager

AGES OF PATIENTS Primarily adults and emancipated minors
SERVED:

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Transfer charts to and from PACU and Nursing Unit
2. Print schedule and order charts from Pacific Storage two days ahead of schedule
3. Review completed Operative Reports and mark off on Discharge List
4. Resolve “Completed with Questions” charts in Surgical Notes
5. Break down charts and scan completed charts in CPSI
6. Obtain missing signatures from MD and/or CRNA
7. Quality Check counterparts scanning to ensure accuracy
8. Enter forms needing signatures in Deficiency System in CPSI
9. Provide signed product agreements with hospital face sheet to reps weekly
10. Monitor completion of physician dictation and notify offices, as needed
11. Enter Pathology reports in CPSI and in Laboratory binder
12. Scan loose papers (i.e. out of deficiency, x-ray results, etc.)
13. Quality Check backlog of old charts
14. Assist the ROI process as a back up to the Health Information Coordinator
15. Assist in the preparation of sending patient records to storage on an annual basis
16. Assist physicians with questions regarding dictation, e-signatures, and patient charts
17. Communicate clearly, proactively and concisely
18. Answers phone, greet department visitors, sorts/files incoming mail/faxes
19. Complete all other job duties assigned

Experience: One to two years of work experience in a hospital and/or ambulatory surgery health information management department.

Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of customer service concepts and practices.

Knowledge of medical terminology and health information management practices, policies and procedures.

Skills: Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees. Oral and written communication skills. Proficient use of a personal computer utilizing Microsoft Office and other software applications as required.

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
