Established company seeks an experienced, detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to manage our financial records with honesty, confidentiality and integrity. Three - Five years quickbooks or other systems accounting experience is required, Five plus years as a bookkeeper or staff accountant is a plus. The bookkeeper will handle various accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, billing, collections, general ledger, and property management. Opportunity for advancement within 6-12 months. The ideal candidate will have QuickBooks expertise, experience with construction-related accounting software (Sage/Timberline is a plus), and a strong understanding of the financial needs of a construction company.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
1. Payroll Management:
- Process weekly payroll, ensuring accurate calculations for hourly and salaried employees.
- Ensure proper tax withholdings, deductions, and benefits administration.
- Prepare and file quarterly payroll tax returns and related documentation.
- Maintain employee payroll records and work with supervisors to resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare end of year W-2’s and 1099’s.
2. Accounts Payable:
- Review and process vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, and compliance with company policies.
- Ensure timely payment of all accounts, including managing vendor relationships.
- Reconcile accounts payable ledger to vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
3. Property Management:
- Process rent collections, expense tracking, and manage tenant leasing files.
- Prepare financial reports for property management purposes.
6. Miscellaneous:
- Daily administrative assistance with mail, phone calls, supplies orders, etc.
- Assist with internal and external audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
- Maintain a well-organized filing system for financial documents.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry, handling payroll processing, accounts payable, billing, collections, and/or general ledger maintenance. Experience with property management a plus.
- Technical Skills:
Proficiency in QuickBooks; experience with Sage or Timberline accounting software is highly preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to work with complex spreadsheets. Proficient with MS Word and Powerpoint.
