Social Worker II in the agency Work First Family Assistance Employment Services Unit (50%). Responsible for explaining Work First Employment Services, assessing clients for employment-readiness, conducting orientation, assisting clients with job preparedness and job search functions, arranging work experience placements, conducting home visits, making appropriate referrals to possible employment options, and community resources. In addition, this position will work 40% in the Day Care Services Unit. Responsible for interviewing applicants for child day care subsidy, explaining child day care services, taking applications, and conducting periodic reviews to determine continuing eligibility. The position requires an annual meeting with all daycare providers in the county to cover the program's logistics. The employee will work in services intake the additional 10% of the time.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides case management services on an individual basis to assess the household needs and determines the goals needed to be eligible to receive the Work First cash assistance and supportive services for the family. Manages the Work First Caseload.Gathering current and local labor market information and establishing a working relationship with community job development and placement organizationsDeveloping, arranging, and providing supportive services necessary to enable participants to attend school, accept employment or training for employment, and certify in writing the arrangements for such servicesAssisting participants in developing individual strategies for problem solving; and monitoring, reviewing , and maintaining cases.Provides coverage for Adult Services Intake, assisting customers both in person and via telephone with making connections in the community related to housing, education and other pertinent resources to assist with individual and family needs.May be called upon to facilitate sessions about Work First Employment Services to groupsResponsible for making referrals to other units in the agency or various community resources as necessary. Identifies and evaluates barriers to employmentDevelops and monitors intervention services and agreements to help clients overcome barriers and achieve self-sufficiency
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; or Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accreditedcollege or university and one year directly related experience; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience.Anyone who has a Human Services Degree or a 4-year degree may apply as “work against appointments."Must have a valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation.
