We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in procurement principles and practices, with a focus on purchasing raw materials and mechanical and electrical components for material handling equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to working with vendors and the ability to work collaboratively with all departments.
Duties
- Procures materials, supplies and services required by the company to operate daily.
- Builds and maintains good business vendor relationships and seeks out new or alternate vendors as required.
- Monitors vendor performance to ensure they are maintaining commitments consistently and meeting technical and quality requirements.
- Works with other departments to establish product requirements and ensure vendors can meet specifications.
- Negotiates acceptable prices and terms with vendors regarding price and delivery of materials in the best interest of the company and customers.
- Prepares complete and accurate requests for quotes and purchase orders according to company specifications.
- Enters purchasing and inventory information in business systems and generates related reports for purposes.
- Reviews inventory and periodically checks quantities to ensure accuracy.
- Tracks purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and expedites orders as required.
- Resolves order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting and vendors and responds to inquires on any material received.
- Processes returned purchased items that are not acceptable or do not meet specifications.
- Communicates status of vendors, purchased products, and information on vendor components with other departments and distributes necessary changes notices as required.
- Maintains all purchasing files and databases.
- Attends and participates in meetings when applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Previous experience in a buyer role (or equivalent) required (minimum 4 years)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with industry standards related to purchasing of raw materials for manufacturing, with an emphasis on steel products a plus.
- Technical understanding of how mechanical and electrical components works preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills for effective collaboration within teams, building vendor relationships, and managing workload.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
