The VP, Learning & Development position is included in a workplace model that does not allow remote work.

As the VP, Learning & Development, essential responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute the L&D strategy to align with organization goals and strategic objectives.

  • Continual alignment of all curriculum to reflect STAR core values and strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify skill gaps and training needs.

  • Lead and mentor the L&D team to ensure effective program delivery.

  • Lead and continuously develop STAR’s internship, apprenticeship or other work based learning programs.

  • Manage the L&D budget and allocate resources effectively. Ensure cost-effective delivery of training programs.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in learning and development.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

  • Enhance employee engagement through targeted learning initiatives.

  • Create and deliver training programs, workshops and e-learning modules.

  • Develop and facilitate new employee and “on demand” training programs for all areas of the bank with applications for each line of business. 

  • In partnership with Human Resources, develop, implement, and maintain a leadership/managerial learning strategy that supports succession planning and the leadership development pipeline, including supporting managers in developing their team members through career pathing.

  • Design and implement various learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching, job- shadowing, online training).

  • Develop and collaborate with subject matter experts to assist in delivery of various programs.

  • Identify and manage relationships and service level agreements with training and performance technology vendors and third-party content providers.

  • Ensure that learning design, content, delivery, and infrastructure standards are in place and utilized organization-wide.

  • Participate in or lead projects, task groups, and committees as appropriate and assigned.

  • Measure the impact of learning programs and continuously improve effectiveness.

Skills Needed

  • Previous experience with content creation platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in virtual and e-learning curriculum development.
  • Relevant experience in leading change/change management.
  • Exceptional skills in building strong business relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work well on cross-functional project teams while executing multiple projects from vision through implementation.
  • Prior experience measuring and reporting on the business impact of training initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to create an atmosphere of motivation.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
