 New aspirations and work adventures:

We are looking for an Empowerment Counseling Program Coordinator like you who will support the Vision, Mission, Culture, Core Values and Core Competencies. Is responsible for providing supervision to counselors, including interns,  prevention services to girls and families that includes social emotional support, individual/family counseling, and psycho-educational groups. This position is aimed at helping girls and women decrease risk-related behaviors.

Here is what some of your responsibilities will look like:

 

Ensure Quality Programming

 

  • Ensure quality programming that increases girls’ resiliency and protective factors at the individual, family, and community levels.
  • Ensure that all programming infuses the integration of Gender-Responsive, Strength-Based, and Trauma-Informed programming and STAR Girlz Values and Guiding Principles.
  • Ensure fidelity to the evidenced-based program model.
  • Contributes to the recruitment and retention of girls, as well as assisting with maintaining census of the program.
  • Support the identification of the psycho-social needs of girls through holistic assessment and education to therapists regarding appropriate services, possible referrals, and decision-making regarding program enrollment.
  • Provide oversight to therapists in the provision of therapy and wrap-around care (case) management services to girls aimed at building resiliency and decreasing risk-related behaviors through a holistic clinical framework.
  • Provides direct care services, including weekly therapy and care (case) management, psycho-educational groups, and family support/counseling.
  • Ensure the provision of psycho-educational groups that are girl-centered, focusing on social-emotional and life-skill development, including summer programming.
  • Provide oversight to therapists regarding family support/counseling with caregivers to encourage girl progression in the change process and to work with natural supports.
  • Provide crisis intervention as warranted, including family support, clinical consultation, and the coordination of risk assessments, to ensure the safety of the girls in the center and community.
  • Review and approve documentation, including needs assessments, screening tools, progress notes, empowerment care plans, and transition plans.
  • Assist with wrap-around care (case) management services as needed, including transportation services, field trips and other extracurricular activities; collaborate with outside entities and community providers involved in girls’ care, make referrals as appropriate, and advocate for needed resources.
  • Ensure that team members utilize strength-based behavior modification, including de-escalation of girls and caregivers when needed.

Leadership

  • Assist with the hiring, on-boarding, and supervising therapists under the culture standards of STAR Girlz.
  • Direct and supervise the Empowerment Team using a Gender-Responsive, Trauma-Informed, and Strength-Based framework.
  • Guide and facilitate meetings regarding girls’ care, providing education and clinical support to the team.
  • Coordinate internal and external professional development efforts, including monitoring STAR Girlz team training requirements and ensuring certifications are current.
  • Ensure compliance regarding documentation of efforts, the collection of data and programmatic outcomes, and prepare reports as needed to ensure contractual and grant obligations.
  • Assist with monitoring compliance with regulatory and contractual standards.
  • Oversee quality substance abuse prevention services by monitoring the Colorado Revised Statues.
  • Ensure that all disclosures of abuse and neglect are reported timely and accurately
  • Follow the State and Stakeholders (funders) in determining what and when to report incidents.
  • Follow through and implement strategies and action plans decided upon in management meetings.
  • Create partnerships and collaborate with community resources to identify quality services that will enhance the program and cohesively meet the needs of girls.
  • Attend community meetings when appropriate to enhance the understanding of agency initiatives, to elicit support, to advocate for girls, and to support recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Assist in training and oversight of assigned interns and volunteers, if warranted.
  • Must adhere to STAR Girlz Values and Guiding Principles and upholds the ethical standards of the Agency.
  • Availability to work evenings and some weekends as required to fulfill workload requirements.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What you will bring:

Education: 

Required - Master’s Degree from four-year College or University. Major in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, and Counseling.

 Preferred- Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker.

 

Experience, knowledge skills, and ability:

Required

·         Minimum of two years of experience providing counseling and therapeutic clinical services to youth and families.

·         Experience with case management and community behavioral health practices.

·         Understand culturally relevant needs of diverse populations.

·         Child development knowledge.

 

Preferred

·         Experience in managing and supervising teams.

·         Meets the requirements as a Qualified Supervisor to provide clinical licensure supervision.

·         Minimum one to three year’s experience in a leadership role.

·         Knowledge of laws relating to children and families.

·         Competencies in Trauma-Responsive practices.

·         Experience working with girls and women of color from disadvantaged backgrounds.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Support the company’s mission, vision, and values. The position requires, Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, effective time management and organizational skills, attention to details, and minimum experience using personal computers, case management and/or office software.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

Licensed in the State of Colorado as a Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor or a Registered Intern with the State of Colorado and under the supervision of a State Qualified Supervisor. A valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving.

Pay, Frills, and Unique Essentials at STAR Girlz Empowerment:

The compensation for this position is $27,508-$34,008 annually and is a Part-Time non-exempt (hourly) position. STAR Girlz has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what STAR Girlz may pay for the position at the time of posting. STAR Girlz may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
