Summary
While upholding the mission, vision, and values of Star Valley Health, the Community Relations/Foundation Director is a key position responsible for overseeing all Star Valley Health public relations, communication, and Charitable Foundation functions. This includes managing press releases, fund development, donor relations, grant writing, and endowment development. The Director will also structure and supervise the donor database and public relations efforts.
In addition to these responsibilities, the role will actively collaborate with the community to increase and maintain the visibility of Star Valley Health’s services and enhance the organization’s reputation. The Director will also manage key community events, outreach programs, and sponsorships, such as charity golf tournaments, parades, and 5Ks, while fostering strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and the local community. The Director will play a vital role in the continued growth and success of the Star Valley Health Foundation and its mission.
This is an “at will” position.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Coordination:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute key community events, including charity golf tournaments, the Lincoln County Fair, the Half Marathon & 5K, Thanksgiving Light Parade, and Alpine Days Light Parade.
- Organize community meet-and-greet events for new physicians and staff, fostering community relationships.
- Coordinate event logistics such as securing locations, vendors, and volunteers.
- Order promotional materials, including event swag and banners.
- Oversee event set-up, ensure smooth execution, and coordinate media presence for events.
- Ensure safety fairs and other community events run successfully.
Donor and Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, community members, and stakeholders to ensure consistent support for the foundation.
- Organize and attend donor receptions, such as hanger receptions, and coordinate foundation tours.
- Oversee fundraising initiatives, reviewing and approving donation requests.
- Act as a liaison with the SVH Auxiliary and coordinate its involvement in community events and activities.
- Manage school outreach programs and employee scholarships for local high school seniors.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Manage and track donations, including creating gift baskets for community events and donations.
- Prepare checks for deposit, record funds, and ensure receipts are sent to donors.
- Maintain accurate records of donations and contributions.
- Attend foundation meetings, prepare agendas, send reminders, and reserve meeting spaces.
- Take minutes during meetings, ensuring timely follow-up with meeting notes.
- Schedule and coordinate steering committee meetings, providing logistical support, including food and room reservations.
- Generate reports and track contributions, including updating the donor wall and managing grant recipient communications.
- Work with billing for grant recipients and ensure all administrative tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Abilities & Skills:
Professional expertise written, editing and oral communication.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and the local community.
Experience with fundraising and donor management software (Kindful or similar).
Sound analytical, imaginative, project management, and problem solving skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Confident and dynamic personality.
Constant sitting, walking, pushing, bending, and reaching with periodical standing throughout the work day. Exposure to outside elements when duties require.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed for events.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email marketing tools.
Comply with HIPAA and other local, state, and federal regulations.
Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3 years of experience in community relations, event planning, or nonprofit management.
Experience with fundraising and donor management software (Kindful or similar).
