StarCare Specialty Health System seeks to hire an experienced and enthusiastic System Support Specialist to join its outstanding Information Technology (IT) Team.
System Support Specialist:
The System Support Specialist is part of StarCare’s IT Infrastructure Department and reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure. The System Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting StarCare employees by providing assistance and resolution to all software and hardware issues concerning laptop/desktop computers, mobile devices/phones, and peripherals/printers via contact with the StarCare Help Desk. In performing their duties, System Support Specialists must demonstrate composure and professionalism in person and/or on the phone or via Microsoft Teams. This position demands excellent customer service to StarCare employees/contractors/students/volunteers by promptly evaluating, prioritizing, and responding to their requests. All requests must be resolved and documented in an accurate and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities of the System Support Specialist:
- Answer Help Desk calls promptly and provide professional support for IT issues.
- Ensure a positive support experience.
- Develop good relationships and trust with StarCare end users by exhibiting a professional attitude and a welcoming approach to understanding the end user’s problem.
- Offer outstanding customer support and excellent communication in accordance with all Help Desk procedures and policies by identifying and working with all end users (on-site/remote employees, contractors, and students).
- Remain in touch with end user until their issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
- Recognize, analyze, and resolve routine to complicated PC hardware and software problems.
- Maintain company work order system.
- Install new computers and peripherals.
- Assist in maintaining network security, end user access, antivirus software & server updates.
- Assign, track, and maintain inventory for all IT equipment and peripherals.
- Monitor system backup jobs.
- Monitor and support networking equipment (Switches, Firewall’s, Routers & Access Points)
- Provide end-user training via telephone or Teams to assist with problems encountered using technology.
- Create new user accounts.
- Remove accounts for termed employees.
- Conduct/monitor/report on month phishing campaigns.
- Communicate with vendors for equipment replacement, software issues, etc.
- Enter invoices in accounting platform for reconciliation or payment.
- Monitor Digital Defense System to keep security scores high.
- Perform upgrades for desktops/laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and any other devices.
- Perform administrative duties, including scheduling of equipment or laptop loaners, or any other services/items for company end users.
Schedule:
- This is a full-time/non-exempt (eligible for over-time) position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.
- This is an on-site position and may require occasional travel between StarCare facilities using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
- The IT Department supports 24/7 programs. This position will be required to carry the on-call phone one week per month for overnight and weekend coverage (on-call stipend and overtime compensation provided if needed).

Qualifications
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field with major course work in Management Information Systems or related computer studies field.
- At least two (2) years of full-time paid work experience in an IT environment supporting desktops, laptops, and peripherals/printers.
- Experience and education may be substituted (30 hours of college equals one year of experience).
- Possess advanced knowledge of wireless technologies and LAN, preferred.
- Possess advanced knowledge of all laptop hardware, preferred.
- Possess experience with Intune and Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint and SharePoint Migration, specifically), preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong and proven interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
- Strong listening skills to fully understand what the end user’s needs and/or requests are.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques, personal computer hardware and software
and network operating systems and security software. - Ability to recognize, analyze and resolve routine to complicated PC hardware and software problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of assignments and manage time effectively.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Exceptional ability to work optimally in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and be insurable under the organization’s insurance.
- Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
