Tooling Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain tooling solutions tailored to large-scale metal missile canister manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and design engineers, to optimize production processes.
  • Develop and implement tooling standards, guidelines, and best practices for large-scale metal fabrication.
  • Conduct tooling feasibility studies, assessments, and risk analyses to ensure high-quality output.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve tool longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in tooling engineering, preferably in large-scale metal manufacturing for the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Proven experience in tooling design and fabrication for metal structures, ideally in missile or canister manufacturing.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of metalworking processes, including welding, machining, forming, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.

Preferred Skills:

  • Specialized experience in missile canister tooling and assembly.
  • Knowledge of high-tolerance manufacturing practices and large-scale quality assurance protocols.

Background in working with the Department of Defense or other government clients.
