Description:This is a full-time day shift position that requires an Associate's degree in Nursing, RN licensure, and specific life support certifications.
Core competencies for this role include:
- Performing initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition, establishing a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
- Supervising and mentoring nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.
- Determining staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow.
- Providing direct patient care as needed.
- Assisting with problem-solving by floating between staff.
- Taking patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of patient care and identifying any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
- Responding to complaints about patient care and related services, and managing through established channels.
- Performing role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
- Ensuring staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.

Qualifications:An Associate's degree in Nursing is preferred but not required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. The RN License in the State of TN or another compact state is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at the time of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these certifications.
