Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraeducator to join our educational team. A Paraeducator (also known as a Paraprofessional or Teacher’s Aide) provides instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. This role helps create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students, including those with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
- Assist the teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction as directed by the teacher.
- Reinforce learning concepts and help students complete assignments.
Student Assistance:
- Support students with general and special education needs, including those with 504's or IEPs (Individualized Education Programs).
- Assist students with mobility, communication, and behavioral needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
Behavioral Support:
- Promote positive behavior and reinforce classroom rules.
- De-escalate conflicts and provide emotional support to students.
- Assist in implementing behavior management plans.
Classroom Organization:
- Prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
- Supervise students in various settings, including lunch, recess, and field trips.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel.
- Communicate student progress and concerns to the teacher or appropriate staff.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Pass state (TX) and federal background check
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require an associate’s degree or college coursework).
- Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow teacher instructions and work as part of a team.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
- Background check and state-mandated certifications as required.
Schedule & Compensation:
- [ 4 work hours, Mon-Thurs, except holidays]
- [14.50 per hour]
Work Environment:
- School classroom setting, with occasional outdoor supervision.
- May involve assisting students with physical activities or personal care.
