The Compensation Manager will plan, develop and implement new and revised compensation strategies, programs, policies and procedures to ensure Start Early attracts and retains top talent while remaining competitive in the market. This position is currently funded for two years with a potential opportunity for continuation dependent on funding*.
Reporting to the VP, People & Culture, you will:
Base Annual Salary: $89,400 - $100,000

The Compensation Manager will plan, develop and implement new and revised compensation strategies, programs, policies and procedures to ensure Start Early attracts and retains top talent while remaining competitive in the market. This position is currently funded for two years with a potential opportunity for continuation dependent on funding*.
Reporting to the VP, People & Culture, you will:
- Manage, design, plan, and implement a robust infrastructure around compensation for Start Early that is scalable for growth.
- Partner with the VP, P&C and the Executive Team to assess current state and provide guidance on Start Early’s current and future compensation strategies and structure. Provide thought leadership by staying on top of industry best practices, benchmarks, and the latest compensation approaches.
- Design and implement Start Early’s annual merit increase process including processing in the HCM system.
- Partner with Finance on salary planning process for merit, market/salary adjustments, equity adjustments and promotion pay changes.
- Collect and analyze industry compensation data and conduct market analysis for pay structure set up in the HCM system and develop regular cadence to evaluate, maintain and update foundational data such as job classifications, job levels, salary ranges and geo differentials.
- Partner with the Recruitment team to ensure recruiters have the necessary information and tools to review and extend offers to candidates.
- Consult as a subject matter expert to ensure compensation recommendations are aligned and relevant to both the market and internal equity.
- Partner with the Communications team to ensure targeted communication approaches that help employees have an understanding of compensation philosophy, practices, and administration across all levels of Start Early.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required.
- 5-7 years of full-time experience in compensation
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
- Extensive knowledge of compensation practices and theory including experience in compensation program design and project management
- Execute projects quickly, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong knowledge of the regulatory landscape on pay practices and laws
- Gains trust by creating positive relationships, understanding business objectives, exercising good judgment, and delivering on commitments.
- Effectively manages multiple high-priority tasks and works well under heavy deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Learns quickly, independently acquires knowledge on new subjects in a short timeframe, knows when to ask for help
- Communicates information in a clear and concise manner, orally and in writing, in a style, tone, and manner appropriate for the audience
- Resourceful and energized by new challenges and opportunities
- Performs with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to monitor, audit, and analyze large data sets to identify issues and recommend solution
- Advanced competency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) and an HRIS system

- Effectively establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and gain their trust and respect.
- Comfort and experience in handling risk and uncertainty to move work forward.
