We are seeking a Business Analyst with expertise in workers' compensation insurance underwriting to join our dynamic team and drive the development of a comprehensive, enterprise-grade solution.


As a Business Analyst specializing in Workers Compensation Insurance Underwriting, you will be responsible for leading the analysis and design of our innovative underwriting platform. You will work closely with underwriters, actuaries, software developers, and data scientists to define requirements, optimize processes, and ensure the solution meets industry standards. Your role will be critical in translating complex business needs into a state-of-the-art platform, improving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of our underwriting processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for the development team.
  • Domain Expertise: Apply deep knowledge of workers' compensation insurance underwriting to analyze risk assessment models, claims processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline underwriting workflows and enhance the efficiency of the underwriting process through automation and technology.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers, and QA testers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of features.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and the development team, ensuring alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in testing the developed features, ensuring they meet the business requirements and align with industry standards for workers' compensation insurance.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of requirements, workflows, and system configurations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Qualifications:

  • Domain Expertise: 5 years of experience in workers' compensation insurance underwriting or related roles.
  • Technical Experience: Proven experience in working with software development teams to build enterprise-level insurance solutions.
  • Business Process Design: Strong understanding of underwriting workflows, risk assessment, policy administration, claims management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex insurance data and processes to provide actionable insights and requirements.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing or supporting large-scale software development projects, including agile methodologies.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Software Skills: Experience with tools like JIRA, Slack Confluence, and other project management and documentation platforms.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Insurance Certifications: Certifications such as CWCP, WCCP, AIC, CPCU (Workers' Compensation Focus), CIC, CRM, ARM, or WCS are highly valued and considered a plus.
  • Tech Savvy: Understanding of technologies like cloud computing, data analytics, and machine learning is a bonus.
  • Previous Experience: Experience working on InsureTech platforms, automate underwriting, risk scoring, or instant quote generation is highly desirable.
