POSITION STATUS: Full-Time-Non-Exempt-40 hours per week-Hybrid Role (mix of in person/remote work)
SALARY: $28-$31 per hour

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
StarVista’s Daybreak program is a transitional housing program that provides independent living skills training and mental health support for homeless teens aged 16-21. Daybreak participants receive training in: • Obtaining and maintaining employment • Personal health and self-care • Money management • Meal planning and preparation • Performing daily chores • Accessing and using educational training and community resources • Locating and renting housing • Pursuing educational opportunities Additionally, Daybreak’s therapeutic resources include: • Case Management and • Counseling • Educational Groups • Socialization Activities • Permanency Planning
POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The Program Coordinator oversees the administration needs of the transitional housing program including, but not limited to, performance progress reports, staff scheduling, intake coordination, updating protocols and procedures, and compliance regarding client files, incident reports, child abuse reports, client contact records, and day to day program operations. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Program Manager to provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of the program and implement changes congruent with long-term program goals.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Primary responsibilities include maintaining a safe and secure home environment, providing milieu counseling with clients, making sure clients are completing their programmatic responsibilities, de-escalating crisis situations, maintaining the residential facility clean, and completing daily shift documentation of client interactions.
- Assist in work in the milieu 3-4 shifts per week to ensure engagement in the program and to provide supervision. Work remotely 1-2 shifts per week to complete performance progress reports, client notes, scheduling, and/or assigned projects by Program Manager.
- Effectively manage and coordinate staff schedules to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This includes creating and maintaining staff schedules, coordinating shifts, and managing time-off requests to always ensure adequate coverage.
- Ensure a timely and accurate completion of program performance progress reports
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with collaborating partners, community agencies and referral sources.
- Conduct outreach, working with community partners to provide services to youth and make appropriate referrals to community-based organizations.
- Attend weekly staff meeting, required training, supervision, and other meetings as required for the position.
- Assist in onboarding of new Residential and Relief Counselors
- Assesses emergency and medical situations and determines appropriate action, notifies program manager, police, parents, hospital, as appropriate and/or complete incident report.
- Respond to and refer telephone inquiries to appropriate resources as needed.
- Provide intake coordination for referrals (i.e., potential new clients). This includes collaborating with Core Service Agencies in San Mateo and outside organizations to take on new referrals; screen clients to assign or refer externally as needed.
- Assist each youth in developing a Goals of Progress Plan which defines personal, educational, mental, and physical health, and employment goals and objectives.
- Conduct regular individual meetings with youth and support progress toward their established goals.
- Assign youth to program Case Manager and Clinician.
- Participate in youths’ educational meetings; communicate with teachers, school counselors, principal etc. and provide educational advocacy.
- Assist youth in job readiness training and support.
- Assist youth to build and support relationships with family and community.
- Accompany youth to appointments as needed.
- Provide regular reports on individual youth progress and outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of laws and standards related to residential treatment of youth, especially child abuse reporting laws and laws of confidentiality.
- Knowledge of community resources, referrals, and follow-up strategies relevant to clients.
- Ability to work as a team leader and accomplish tasks supporting the agency’s mission.
- Ability to problem solve and/or seek solutions.
- Ability to complete administrative duties, as assigned by Program Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid CA Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, proof of auto insurance
- Human Resource clearance required, including TB test, and Department of Justice LiveScan Fingerprint clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, OR equivalent experience.
- Skilled in use of software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
- Energetic and team orientated person who has experience and enjoys working with youth.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with youth, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to make sound judgments and set good boundaries.
- Willingness to continuously improve skills and explore areas of growth through supervision, continuing education, and individual development.
- Able to adhere to assigned schedules, timelines, deadlines; punctuality & dependability.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
- Adherence to all StarVista’s and Daybreak Program’s policies and procedures.
