PURPOSE :
The Grants Officer will assist in working with nonprofits applying for grants, help review program outcomes, mentor Grants Analyst to help gain maturity in program management, and support other Foundation staff with the daily promotional, operational, and fiscal responsibilities of the Foundation. The Grants Officer will serve as a statewide resource for Foundation projects, grant-making and other processes and procedures of the Foundation.
DIMENSIONS :
Work in building relationships with grantees including monitoring, managing, and documentation of projects. Serve as a direct contact with grantees to ensure proper payments are made and procedural questions are answered. Serve as a liaison with non-profit organizations, the general public, and SECU branch and operations employees.
DUTIES :
- Assist with grantmaking administration which includes evaluating grant proposals, meeting with grant applicants, organizing site visits, conducting due diligence, assessing the impact of projects and programs, and preparing recommendations to the Foundation Board of Directors.
- Understand software applications utilized by the Foundation (e.g., Fluxx, DocuSign) to facilitate grant inquiries and administer completed grant requests.
- Track the progress of current program / project assignments and provide status reports to the Foundation team. Collect and measure data to provide analysis. Maintain knowledge of current trends in the industry to advise of changes and provide recommendations for program adjustments or modifications as needed.
- Work with employees from the following SECU departments to assist with grantee management such as disbursements, financial reviews, contract preparation, event documentation and press releases, preparation of loan documents, and loan collection procedures : AP Foundation, Accounting CUSO, Legal Services, Marketing, Communications, Loan Administration.
- Work with Foundation Engagement staff to assist with coordination of press releases, media events, social media platforms, and presentations.
- Interact with member organizations of the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers including conference planning and coordination of collaborative grantmaking.
- Interact with NC government agencies and departments such as The Office of the Governor, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Office of Strategic Partnerships, and School of Government to assess potential public / private partnerships for statewide initiatives.
- Interact with NC nonprofit organizations applying for grant funding.
REQUIREMENTS :
This position requires a bachelor’s degree preferably in the following majors : public policy, social work, education, business administration, nonprofit management, or legal studies. Candidates with advanced degrees in a related field of study will be given preference. Prior work experience in a Foundation, Corporate philanthropy, Credit Union, or Nonprofit industry is preferred. Foundation experience preferred, including experience with project or program management. Minimum amount of relevant experience is 2 years.
