What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Men's Baskeball Coach position at State Fair Community College?
The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Warsaw, at Whiteman Air Force Base, and online.
Position Purpose: This position upholds the integrity, academic profile and mission of the Athletic Department. The head coach works closely with other coaches, the athletic director and the broader college community to ensure the best experience possible for all student athletes.
- Development of the men’s basketball team; practice planning, training sessions, scheduling contests, monitoring budgets, establish effective communication with team and staff members.
- Recruit prospective student-athletes that meet the mission profile of State Fair athletic department. Conduct the team within the rules and regulations and follow the policies and procedures of the NJCAA, Missouri Community College Athletic Conference and the institution.
- Advise and direct assistant coach, team members and student manager.
- Work directly with the athletic director and athletic staff to establish fundraising priories for the athletic department while implementing appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies in accordance with department and institutional standards
- Help connect student-athletes to all of the resources offered by the institution.
- Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and mature conduct.
- Maintain affair and objective relationship with team members.
- Handle other responsibilities as assigned by the President and Athletic Director.
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively, both within the unit and campus wide
- Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Education/Experience:
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with five years of a Head Collegiate coaching experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree with at least seven years of collegiate coaching experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet college’s insurance requirements for driving college vehicles required.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to recruit, retain, train and develop student-athletes.
- Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations is required.
- The ability to relate to both internal and external campus constituencies is also required.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others to perform at high levels.
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.
- Ability to move about campus and other locations.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Cost per month to cover family: $54.24 for Plan 1 or $64.48 for Plan 2 coverage.
2. Additional life insurance is available to purchase for employee, spouse, and eligible children. Rate quotes are specific to age.
3. The cost for the basic additional life insurance plan is $1.58 per month for $10,000 spouse coverage and $2,500 dependent child coverage. This is a total monthly cost, regardless of the number of eligible dependents covered.

AFLAC insurance is available and is paid by the employee through payroll deduction.
Medical, dental and vision insurance premiums can be deducted before taxes.
- 4 hours per pay period from hire date through 5 years
- 5 hours per pay period from 6 years through 15 years
- 6 hours per pay period for 16 years or more
- Cap is 160.00 hours
- 5 hours per pay period regardless of years of service
- Cap is 1040 hours
There is no waiting period for holiday, vacation, and sick time, however; the
employee must have supervisor approval prior to using sick or vacation accruals.
Central Methodist University Tuition Waiver Scholarship: CMU offers a tuition waiver scholarship for undergraduate and graduate tuition charges for FT employees each term for online and on-ground courses held on the SFCC campus.
Spouse and dependent of FT SFCC employee may have undergraduate tuition charges (but not books, fees, or supplies) waived each term while attending CMU at SFCC.
Any spouse (but not dependent) of a FT SFCC employee shall have 50 percent of the graduate tuition charges (not books, fees, or supplies) waived each term while attending CMU at SFCC or online.
Employees may purchase LegalShield, which allows the ability to talk to an attorney on any matter without worrying about the high costs associated with legal counsel. LegalShield can be purchased for $7.48 per pay period for individual and $7.88 to add dependents.
