What are the responsibilities and job description for the Navigator Manager position at State Fair Community College?
Each Navigator Manager is responsible for the supervision of a specific team of Student Success Navigators and will serve as a Student Success Navigator for a caseload of students from pre-determined academic programs.
- Lead a team of Student Success Navigators, including hiring, training, inspiring and coaching to holistically and intrusively advise students, guiding them to reach their educational and life goals with a positive, encouraging and empathetic attitude.
- Support team with cross-training, professional development and mentorship.
- Assist the Associate Dean of Admissions & Student Success with special projects, such as Student Orientation, Job & College Transfer Fair, case management tools, etc.
- In collaboration with other Navigator Managers, develop and execute ongoing training and implementation processes for Starfish best practices, guidelines for raising/lowering flags, student outcome data, etc.
- Participate in various campus groups and departmental meetings including, but not limited to, Curriculum Committee, Division Meetings, Athletics, etc.
- Work in conjunction with the SFCC Care Team to respond to student emergencies and crisis situations.
- Works actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college-wide collaboration, student support and success.
- Provides flexible, responsive and high-quality customer service to the campus community, and continuously assesses processes and procedures to revise and/or improve accordingly.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Previous academic advising experience in a higher education environment.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, direct and develop people and activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented problem-solver.
- Exhibit an ability to “think outside the box” and use creativity to lead systemic change.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in any academic discipline.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Experience in Starfish, Banner, Slate or similar platforms.
- Previous work in a community college.
- Completed applications will include cover letter, resume, three contact references, and unofficial transcripts (official transcripts must be requested upon hire). Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense. Preference is given to Missouri residents.

Cost per month to cover family: $54.24 for Plan 1 or $64.48 for Plan 2 coverage.
2. Additional life insurance is available to purchase for employee, spouse, and eligible children. Rate quotes are specific to age.
3. The cost for the basic additional life insurance plan is $1.58 per month for $10,000 spouse coverage and $2,500 dependent child coverage. This is a total monthly cost, regardless of the number of eligible dependents covered.

AFLAC insurance is available and is paid by the employee through payroll deduction.
Medical, dental and vision insurance premiums can be deducted before taxes.
- 4 hours per pay period from hire date through 5 years
- 5 hours per pay period from 6 years through 15 years
- 6 hours per pay period for 16 years or more
- Cap is 160.00 hours
- 5 hours per pay period regardless of years of service

There is no waiting period for holiday, vacation, and sick time, however; the
employee must have supervisor approval prior to using sick or vacation accruals.
Central Methodist University Tuition Waiver Scholarship: CMU offers a tuition waiver scholarship for undergraduate and graduate tuition charges for FT employees each term for online and on-ground courses held on the SFCC campus.
Spouse and dependent of FT SFCC employee may have undergraduate tuition charges (but not books, fees, or supplies) waived each term while attending CMU at SFCC.
Any spouse (but not dependent) of a FT SFCC employee shall have 50 percent of the graduate tuition charges (not books, fees, or supplies) waived each term while attending CMU at SFCC or online.
Employees may purchase LegalShield, which allows the ability to talk to an attorney on any matter without worrying about the high costs associated with legal counsel. LegalShield can be purchased for $7.48 per pay period for individual and $7.88 to add dependents.
