Responsibilities
- Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and settles total loss vehicle claims in an assigned area to include verification of coverage and extent of damage, which may require contact by telephone, email, correspondence, or other electronic media
- Applies knowledge of policies, procedures, laws, statutes, and insurance regulations when determining property damage
- Uses various electronic resources for claim handling
- Works in partnership with and provides instruction to claim associates
Qualifications
- Works under close supervision and seeks guidance to handle claims with authority
- Leverages established claim processes, appropriate job aids, expertise, and tools to handle total loss claims
- Confers with management regarding the retention of outside investigative agencies and external vendors
- Explains terms of policy as appropriate
- Recognizes and resolves potential NICB indicators
- Prepares and/or reviews written or computerized estimates in loss settlements
- Identifies and addresses salvage issues within scope
- Communicates and provides information to agents as needed during claims process
- Collaborates with internal partners and interfaces with external vendors
- Assists in training and/or mentoring less experienced associates and specialists
- Participates in special projects as assigned
