State Farm In-House Insurance Staff Counsel is seeking a Paralegal to join the Claims Litigation team. The selected candidates will be housed in Tempe, AZ or Bloomington, IL. While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, a typical day as a Paralegal involves supporting attorneys nationwide, with preparing medical chronologies and billing summaries and reviewing medical records and bills. The most qualified candidates will have the ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively. There are no billable hours in this opportunity. This role provides diversity of work and the opportunity for career development.  The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. The selected individual will be considered a hybrid employee, spending some time working in either the Tempe, AZ or Bloomington, IL office. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend time in the office.  Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.

• Tempe, Arizona Office: 1501 W Fountainhead Pkwy, Suite 390, Tempe, AZ 85282-1888
• Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Medical record and billing summaries
• Medical chronologies

• Previous Experience preferred:
  • Prefer recent experience in injury claims, litigation, or paralegal tasks
  • Prior paralegal experience, litigation
  • Background in reviewing medical records and preparing medical chronologies or analyzing medical records
• Key Skills required:
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail
• Technology/software experience required:
  • Strong software/technical skills
  • Experience using Evermap and/or Adobe Bookmarking
  • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
• Education, including licensing and certifications:
  • Prior litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training (i.e. nursing) or relevant coursework, or legal studies degree is preferred, but not required

• Potential starting salary range: $53,901.25 - $80,000.00
• Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
• High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
• Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
