Responsibilities
State Farm (Bloomington IL) seeks a Technical Architect to analyze, design, develop, and deploy various technologies for the Commercial Mortgages, Investment Data Mart, and Investment Vendor Enablement teams in support of internal/vendor applications and architecture platforms related to the overall investment trade flow. Specific duties include: consult in the creation and support of a multi-year, combined business and technology strategy; connect and integrate strategies across the enterprise leveraging strong business and technical acumen; maintain breadth of experience across multiple business areas and depth of knowledge across multiple technology domains (App, Data, and Infrastructure); ensure adoption of all architectural principles, policies, and standards in collaboration with business and Enterprise Technology teams; support technical direction across product suites, helping translate user and business needs into an integrated architecture for product teams; and apply knowledge of scalable and resilient architecture patterns and work across areas ensuring solutions align to develop a strategic roadmap in alignments with business outcomes. Option to work remotely with required travel to local offices as needed, if within 180 miles of remote worksite.
Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 6 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Senior Consultant, Technical Architect, Software Engineer, Software Developer/Programmer, or similar position in technical engineering or application development. Must have 6 years of experience with each of the following: software application development, working with DB2 and SQL database architecture; working with Mainframe technology and DB2 database architectures to design modernized solutions for legacy applications. Must have 5 years of experience with Windows/SQL Server infrastructure. Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: working with Target State Architecture and Application Rationalization initiatives for internal/vendor applications; working with Service Management processes, including Incident Management, Change Management and Problem Management. Specific experience must also include: working with applications systems design and integration; providing solutions for web applications and web services; assisting in analyzing solutions that enable business outcomes, making recommendations, and selecting appropriate technologies that ensure alignment with target state architecture; providing technical architecture and infrastructure guidance/direction for business partner software solutions; maintaining knowledge of technology architecture through application systems design and integration of various platforms and SaaS applications; designing, maintaining, and supporting SQL Server Database infrastructure for data integration between SaaS applications and client databases to enhance database performance, security, and reliability; collaborating with Database Administrators to create automated database refresh solutions; designing and developing solutions with SAS, SQL, and Cognos applications to retrieve data from databases for business operational/reporting needs; collaborating with internal teams (cloud engineering, infrastructure, security) for future architecture efforts to design a cloud based, modernized data warehouse, front-end applications, and reporting solutions; providing technical direction for Commercial Mortgages, Investment DataMart, and Investment vendor applications; working as part of a project team to coordinate database development work and determine project scope and limitations; and maintaining knowledge of industry trends in database systems to develop integration of products across different platforms by customizing vendor databases to fit business needs. Option to work remotely with required travel to local offices as needed, if within 180 miles of remote worksite. Full time position.
