Office of Children's Services (OCS) is
recruiting for full-time Accounting Technician 1 located in
Fairbanks, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing

Under general supervision but working independently, this position is responsible for providing accounting and inventory support to the Office of Children’s Services to ensure timely and accurate procurement services are met, bills are paid, and inventory is accounted for. The primary focus of this position is in the areas of Accounts Payable, processing invoices for payment, expenditure auditing and tracking, assistance with payroll, and by providing accurate, comprehensive, technical and specialized examination and verification of accounting/fiscal data support to the Office of Children’s Services.

We Are Seeking a Candidate with the Following Competencies:

  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside State government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

Additional Required Information

At time of interview applicant is requested to submit:

  • A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are acceptable but must include the institution name/URL on documents provided) if required to meet minimum qualifications.
  • A list of three (3) professional* references including daytime telephone numbers and email address; at least two (2) of these must be from a current or former supervisor.
    • Professional is defined as a supervisor or an individual who has direct knowledge of your work performance.
