What You Will Be Doing

  • Reconcile DMV financial systems (IRIS and ALVIN), track revenues, commissions, and fees, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare federal financial progress reports, assist with grant proposals, and manage federal fund drawdowns.
  • Maintain accounting systems, including ledger codes, and ensure DMV’s credit card and electronic check deposit systems are functional.
  • Bill customers for bulk records, reconcile suspense accounts, and ensure accurate IRS 1099 reporting.
  • Train DMV staff on fiscal processes, serve as backup for other employees.

Who We Are Looking For

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

  • Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer's accountability.
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary. 

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

An associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
