WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Administrative Officer 2 will provide professional level administrative services necessary to implement effective and efficient centralized high-level administrative operations for the Division of Administrative Services (DAS), supporting various budgetary components across the department. This position serves as a liaison between DAS and other divisions providing financial and budgetary oversight.

This position contributes to the division's success by assisting primarily with budgeting, financial management, interagency agreements, and other administrative functions.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is located in the Anchorage headquarters building on Tudor Road with ample parking and views of the Chugach mountains. The office is shared by other employees in the division and is located on the second floor. The office environment is supportive, professional, and friendly. The department is supportive of hybrid telework agreements.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in 

  • Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.

  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

  • Budget Administration: Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.

  • Financial Management: Prepares, justifies, and/or administers the budget for program areas; plans, administers, and monitors expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assesses financial condition of an organization.

  • Organizational Awareness: Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience providing administrative support to a business or organization, business administration, public administration, finance, banking, accounting, industrial relations, marketing, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, or a similar business field.
  
Special Note:

“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

AT TIME OF INTERVIEW
At time of interview, applicant must provide:
  • Three (3) professional references, two of which must be from a current or former direct supervisor. This can be in the form of a list of contact information or a combination of recommendation letters and contact information. 
  • Copies of your last two (2) performance evaluations, if available.
  • Copies of college transcripts, if using education to qualify.

BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check.  Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
