What You Will Be Doing:
We are looking for a team member who can work independently with very little supervision and understands building design and construction processes along with standard procurement processes. As part of our team, you will perform contracting and project management tasks for State of Alaska and Federal Government facilities. As a Building Management Specialist you will be responsible for evaluating field conditions, making recommendations and courses of action, preparing cost estimates, requesting funding, preparing bid documents, writing scopes of work and authorizing contract awards.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
Facilities: Knowledge of the physical, engineering, and experimental equipment and operational characteristics of facilities, and safety and equipment development designed to support activities.
Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.
Safety Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to identify, control, mitigate, and eliminate safety hazards in the design and use of facilities, equipment, operations, and work processes.

Education or training in engineering, architecture, business administration, or a closely related field and/or progressively responsible experience in facilities construction, operation, maintenance or repair; building management, structural engineering, architecture, or licensed general contracting.
Professional experience may include work as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
