The Department of Health is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 1 for our Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP).  

This Criminal Justice Technician 1 position is authorized to have a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) waiver. For this posting, ONLY MALE applicants will be considered.

This provides overall programmatic and administrative assistance to the Probation Officers in the management of the Anchorage area Therapeutic Courts. This is a Long-Term, Non-Permanent position that works some weekends and occasional evenings.

What you will be doing:
The Therapeutic court provides important public safety interventions in protecting the public by helping to reduce criminal offenses committed by drug and alcohol addicted person and offenders with mental health problems. The Criminal Justice Technician assists the Probation Officers in providing case management, intensive treatment, community supervision, frequent, random testing for substance use while constantly monitoring and reporting compliance of all participants to the Courts. This position must conduct routine and random drug screenings by various mediums including urine and saliva, using proper handling and chain of custody for participants involved in the Therapeutic Court Programs.

This position is required to work some weekends and holidays as needed.
