Duties to include but not limited to assist with inmate property, commissary, inmate store and inmate banking at Point Mackenzie Correctional Farm.Our organization, mission, and culture: The mission of the State of Alaska Department of Corrections is to promote public safety. Our Division provides secure confinement, access to reformative programs, and offender management planning that promotes successful community reentry. The benefits of joining our team: In joining the Point Mackenzie Farm, not only will you be an important part of a team but also have the opportunity to work on a functioning farm that produces fresh vegetables for other institutions and food banks of the State of Alaska. The working environment you can expect: Point Mackenzie Correctional Farm is a minimum custody facility which houses up to 127 inmates and 28 employees on a 360-acre farm. Your typical working schedule will be Monday thru Friday, 8-hour days.Who we are looking for: We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies: Technical Competence: Use knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job. Work with, understand and evaluate technical information related to the job. Advise others on technical issues. Know and understand the laws, regulations, policies and procedures which govern the work and be able to interpret and apply them in a consistent manner in order to ensure adherence to the program guidelines.Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
