The Department of Public Safety, Division of Statewide Services, is seeking a Criminal Justice Technician Flex I/II to join the Permits and Licensing Unit. - Program Management
Under the guidance and general direction of the Records and Licensing Supervisor, you will be responsible for processing Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit, Security Guard and Agency Licensing, and Civilian Process Server Licensing applications.
- Criminal Justice Administration
You will have the opportunity to build competency and expertise in reviewing, interpreting, and communicating state and federal law, within the preview of the Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit, Security Guard and Agency License, and Civilian Process Server programs.
- Team Lead
You would have lead authority over one Office Assistant 2. Under general direction from the Records and Licensing Supervisory, you would provide training, assign daily tasks, and review work quality. This position would participate in hiring panels and provide feedback on performance evaluations.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at level 1, promotion to level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
BACKGROUND CHECK
This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
