- The Alaska Division of Elections is looking for an Elections Security Officer!
What you will be doing:This position has two primary focuses. The first is the coordination of the physical and cyber security programs for the Division of Elections. The second is acting as the division’s primary power platform developer.

This position is located in the Court Plaza Building in beautiful downtown Juneau where you'll have access to many restaurants and trails you can walk on your lunch break. The working environment is dynamic and collaborative with regular interactions with colleagues, other state agencies, and the public.Examples of Duties:
Operate systems and processes that increase the security and stability of election services. This includes, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, incident response systems, disaster recovery systems, and networking monitoring tools.
Coordinate the security related to each of the division’s systems including: Voter Registration and Election Management, Ballot Tabulation System, Online Voter Registration, Online Absentee Ballot Application System, Online Ballot Delivery System, My Voter Information Portal, the division’s public web site, and other systems.
Oversee efforts to mitigate and remediate any impacts of security related events (again physical and cyber).
Create regular situational security reports for the Division Operations Manager.
Participate as the Division's representative in the monthly EI-ISAC meetings and other events designed to provide information sharing.
Create end user applications in both Model-Driven applications and in Canvas applications that facilitate the division’s workflow and inform the public.
Develop power automate scripts that facilitate streamlined workflows for users of the divisions Voter Registration and Election Management systems.
Acting as a liaison between technical staff, other state agencies, vendors and management on security practices for the division’s offices and systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of systems security, network security, application security and disaster recovery.
Knowledge of Microsoft’s Power Platform (or Microsoft Dynamics, XRM, etc.) and its related development spaces (Power Automate, Power BI etc.)
Experience connecting disparate data systems into a single end user application.
Experience with data conversion projects.
Basic knowledge of a variety of operating systems, features, and environments including Windows Server, IIS, SFTP, and Azure.
Basic knowledge of security incident management, collaboration and conflict management.
Strong organizational and self-motivated skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing environments. Ability to articulate IT security and privacy technical issues in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical staff and understand political relationships between agencies.
Ability to work under pressure with a high degree of independence and accuracy.
Ability to prepare reports, test and evaluate software packages and systems.
Ability to read, understand and apply information in technical manuals, journals, and the ability to apply and understand statutes and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in cyber security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, or a related technical field;
AND
Two years of professional experience developing applications in Microsoft’s Power Platform environments.
Substitution: Four years of any combination of post-secondary education or paid work experience operating or directing cyber security at an application layer level.
AND
Three years of professional experience developing applications in Microsoft’s Power Platform environments.

This position is in the Exempt Service per AS 39.25.110(20). In accordance with AS 15.10.105(b)(2), after successfully completing a period of probation, employees in the class achieve permanent status in the division of Elections.
