Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience as an Emergency Services Dispatcher 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Special Note:
Specific positions in this job class may require incumbents to be Emergency Medical, Police, or Firefighting Dispatch certified.
Shift work may be required.
A background investigation will be required upon initial employment.
This job class requires individuals to multitask and maintain emotional control and composure to work effectively during emergencies, crisis situations, and/or extremely stressful conditions.
Additional Required Information
AT TIME OF INTERVIEW
A typing test demonstrating the ability to type 40 words per minute must be submitted with the application. There are many free websites where typing tests can be performed and recorded.
SPECIAL NOTE
The hourly salary listed below includes a 30% pay increase reflecting a mission-critical bonus. This is established per an approved Letter of Agreement for Emergency Services Dispatcher 2 positions.
Specific positions in this job class may require incumbents to be Emergency Medical, Police, or Fire Dispatch certified. Communications Training Officer Certification (or the ability to obtain this certification within 6 months of hire) is a requirement for this position.
Shift work will be required. This position requires use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), which means a background investigation including fingerprinting will be conducted.
