What You Will Be Doing :
The Facilities Management section of Departmental Support Services provides management and oversight of the department's major capital development and deferred maintenance projects. This position works closely with the Commissioner's Office and division directors to develop the department's annual capital budget. Specific responsibilities can include analysis of project feasibility, developing project scope and cost estimates, and development and management of design and construction contracts. This position provides direct supervision to two (2) Building Management Specialists, and maintains Construction Contracting Warrant Level 3 certification through the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.

Working Environment You Can Expect :
Our offices are fast paced and busy environments where teammates are willing to pitch in to help so no one person is overwhelmed. The position will visit the numerous 24-hour residential facilities served by the department to maintain familiarity with current building conditions, mentor on-site building maintenance and operations staff, and collaborate with facility administrators.
Departmental Support Services is a direct services division where the success of our teams is attributed to working in office as opposed to teleworking.
This position may be located in Juneau or in Anchorage. In Juneau, the office is located downtown, conveniently located near shops, restaurants not to mention, the Alaska State Capitol Building, Courthouse, Governor's mansion as well as museums. The Anchorage office is conveniently located in mid-town in the Frontier Building. The office suite is freshly remodeled, and the building provides covered parking, nearby shopping, dining and amenities.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and / or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
Equivalent to those typically gained by :
Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and / or progressively responsible experience in facility management, public or business administration, planning, design, architecture, engineering, construction or maintenance, project or cost management, or a closely related field.
Definitions :

Typically gained by" means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
Training" and "education" in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction.
