The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Administrative Services is recruiting for a Microcomputer/Network Specialist 1/2 (Lead Service Desk Specialist-PCN 110311) located in Juneau!

The ideal candidate will be the team leader and the escalation path to junior service desk technicians, providing prompt and efficient resolutions to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Lead a team of service desk technicians to resolve technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement of support processes.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and endpoints.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple support tickets, for incident and request management, to ensure timely resolution.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Train and mentor junior service desk staff

The working conditions you can expect:

This position is located in the Juneau ADFG Headquarters at 1255 W 8th Street. Occasional travel to other offices will be required, including both driving and air travel.

The successful candidate will lead a team of service desk technicians and can expect to interact with other ADFG staff, IT contractors, and OIT staff regularly.

  • Requires passing a background investigation including fingerprinting.
  • Requires infrequent air travel within the State to service equipment.
  • Requires frequent driving within the local area to service equipment.

  • Network Management: Knowledge of the operation, management, and maintenance of network and telecommunication systems and linked systems and peripherals.

  • Systems Life Cycle: Knowledge of systems life cycle management concepts used to plan, develop, implement, operate, and maintain information systems.
 
  • Technical Expertise: Effectively applies technical knowledge to solve a range of problems; develops technical solutions to new or highly complex problems that cannot be solve using existing methods or approaches; is sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in the technical area.
  
Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Training and progressive experience in installing new computers, printers, and other peripheral devices; loading and troubleshooting software and hardware systems, maintaining security software, and configuring network settings for workstations.
